Teen Volunteering

How to Help Your Community

REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS: The library is hosting a NJ Makers Day celebration on Saturday, March 16th from 11am to 2pm and we need teen volunteers to help run craft tables. Please fill out the general form below and include a note that says you are interested in Makers Day, or call the Youth Services Desk, (732) 721-5600 ext. 5028

Teen Advisory Board
Volunteer for fun projects that benefit our community. Have a say in deciding what events, books, space and more the library has for teens. No sign-up is required, and teens can attend whichever projects and meetings fit their schedule. Community service time is given for meetings and events.

Next TAB Date: March 6, 2024 – 6:30 to 7:30pm

Teen Reviews
We are offering volunteering credit through our Teen Reviews program, where you can earn 10 community service hours per month. To learn more, visit our Teen Reviews page here: Teen Reviews

For all other ways to volunteer, fill out this interest form:

Tech Helpers
On Saturdays from 11am to 1pm, Tech Helpers set up at a table near the reference desk and are available for anyone who has technology questions or help with their devices. We need more tech helpers, and we’d love to add a second weekly date. Each teen must fill out an interest form and attend orientation.

Organization Club
The Organization Club will help with shelf reading, shifting books, checking for damaged books, and fixing up the Children and Teen areas. Each teen must fill out an interest form and attend orientation. The program lasts six weeks.

Events & Programming
After your volunteer program ends, or if you are not available consistently but still want to volunteer, we can reach out to you for help with special events and other library programs. Each teen must fill out an interest form and attend orientation prior to the event or program.

Next orientation date: March 13, 2024 – 6 to 7pm. Please fill out the interest form or be in contact with the teen librarian to register.

Teen volunteering is for ages 12-18 (or until your senior year of high school ends, whichever comes first).
