Old Bridge, NJ – March 9, 2017 – A variety of health-related programs will be offered at the Old Bridge Public Library this month.

On Thurs. She attended the Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed her residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

On Thurs. March 30 and April 6th from 12:30-3pm, the Library will present a two-part series entitled, “South Asian Stroke Awareness.” This informative and interactive series is geared specifically for the South Asian Community, which is often burdened by significant chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, that in turn can lead to high incidents of stroke.  The sessions will explain how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a stroke and will provide tips for treating and preventing them.  The series will be taught by a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Dietitian. Participants must attend both sessions and participants will receive a blood pressure monitor, waist measuring tape and other handouts in a complimentary tote bag. A healthy lunch will also be served. This program is presented by the South Asian Total Health Initiative (SATHI) and funded by the Office of Minority and Multicultural Health, NJDOH. Registration is required by calling 732-721-5600 x5033 or going online to www.oldbridgelibrary.org.

Lastly, also on March 30th, there will be a “Medicare and You” session at 7pm. This workshop, hosted by Bankers Life and Casualty, will provide information about Medicare choices. Attendees will learn about the enrollment period and what choices must be made for Medicare parts A, B, C and D.  The program will also examine what Medicare pays for in a Skilled Nursing Facility and in a private home.
