Old Bridge, NJ – May 24, 2016 – As part of its ongoing health-related programming, the Old Bridge Public Library will present programs in June on Lupus and Chronic Disease Self-Management.
The Library will host a free six-week workshop series on Chronic Disease Self-Management on Tuesdays from 1 – 3:30pm, beginning June 7th and ending July 19th (no session July 5th). Those suffering from, or caring for someone with chronic conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, osteoporosis or diabetes are invited to attend. The sessions will allow participants to learn how to manage symptoms, communicate effectively with doctors, make daily tasks easier, and will provide tips on healthy diet and exercise. The course is offered through the Middlesex County Office of Health Services and registration is necessary by calling the Library at 732-721-5600 x5033 or going online at www.oldbridgelibrary.org. Participants must attend all six classes and will receive certificate of completion at the end of the program.
Additionally, on Wed. June 8th at 1pm, there will be an All About Lupus seminar, presented by Dr. Nandini Moorthy, Chief of Rheumatology at Bristol Myer Squibb Children’s Hospital (at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital) in New Brunswick. This informational session will address the symptoms and treatments of the autoimmune disease as well as tips for managing it successfully. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.
The Old Bridge Public Library was recently voted “Best Public Library in Middlesex County” by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
