Old Bridge, NJ – Oct. 20, 2017 — The Old Bridge Public Library will offer plenty of Halloween fun for local families.

On Sat. Oct. 28th, the Library will participate in Old Bridge’s annual “Spooktacular” celebration taking place at the Municipal Center. From 11-2pm, there will be a “Baby Boo and Toddler Too” drop-in party geared for babies and kids up to 3 years old. The festivities will begin with a “Spooky Storytime” at 11am, followed by fun crafts, sensory stations and activities specifically tailored for this age group.  Children will also have the opportunity to trick or treat around the Library. In addition, there will be crafts and activities planned for older children as well.

On Oct. 31st from 11–12:30pm, there will be a Halloween Hullabaloo celebration. The event will start with a holiday-themed storytime and craft.  After the craft, children will parade around the Library to different trick or treat stations for some goodies.  Costumes are not required, but are encouraged.

The Library will also offer holiday fun for teens and adults. On Fri. Oct. 27th at 1:30pm, there will be a screening of Tim Burton’s animated 2005 film, “The Corpse Bride.” It tells the tale of a shy groom (voiced by Johnny Depp) who unknowingly practices his wedding vows in the presence of a deceased young woman (voiced by Helena Bonham Carter), who then rises from the grave assuming he has married her. On Sun., Oct. 29th at 2pm, the Garden State Speculative Fiction Writers (GSSFW) will present Something’s Out There: A Reading of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven and Algernon Blackwood’s The Wendigo.  Who is rapping at the chamber door?  What rides the wind that buffets a lonely tent in a vast wilderness?  Unseen terrors will make their presence known during these readings.  A shadowy, simulated campfire setting will enhance the listening experience as the GSSFW give eerie voice to these classics of fear and suspense.
