Old Bridge, NJ – January 16, 2018 – The Old Bridge Public Library will celebrate the seventh annual National Take Your Child to the Library Day with crafts, activities and a Family Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Feb. 3rd from 11am – 3pm.

Originally developed by a Connecticut children’s librarian, Take Your Child to the Library Day serves as an encouragement to families across the nation to visit their local libraries. The Old Bridge Library’s schedule of events is as follows:

11am- Family Storytime

11:30-3:30pm – Family Scavenger Hunt:  Families will receive a Library Traveler Passport, and will follow clues to bring them to a certain desk (e.g. Youth Services, Information Services, etc).  In between going to the desks to get the Passports stamped, each family will have to complete tasks, such as book title memory matching, finding items on an I Spy board, navigating robots through a maze and completing puzzles.

12pm – Lego building

2:30pm – Family fun craft

2:30pm – Family gaming

Throughout the day, there will be giveaways at the children’s desk if a child shows their library cards or obtains a new one.  The first 50 children will also receive gift bags courtesy of JEI Learning Center of Old Bridge, and a collaborative community project in the Children’s area will allow patrons to help add on scales to the Lunar New Year’s dragon that will be affixed to the windows. There will also be a table with information about various literacy programs, Library book lists and other relevant resources and programs.

The Old Bridge Public Library has consistently been voted one of the three Best Public Libraries in Middlesex County by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
