Old Bridge, NJ – May 9, 2017 — The Old Bridge Public Library is pleased to offer two informative programs created for parents and guardians. No registration is required for these sessions.
On Wed. May 17th at 7pm, Old Bridge-based College GPS will present an informative workshop explaining the benefits of early college planning. Workshop attendees will learn:
- The advantages of early planning
- How to get started
- The cost of procrastination
- How to select colleges
- The financial aid forms necessary to complete
- The three formulas used by colleges and how they impact aid eligibility
- Surprising information about financial aid qualification
- Smart steps high school juniors can take now to prepare for the FAFSA
The material covered in this workshop is suitable for families of middle school students through high school juniors.
On Tues. May 23rd at 7pm, there will be a session entitled, “Substance Abuse Prevention Parent Education Program,” sponsored by the Partnership for a Drug-Free NJ. Parents and caregivers who are concerned about children (of any age) and substance abuse are invited to attend this free, interactive, one-hour presentation. Research has shown that even in today’s society, parents are still the strongest influence in their children’s lives. Topics covered will include: talking to your kids about drugs and alcohol, the influence of media and pop culture, the effects of specific drugs, keeping children drug-free, strengthening parenting skills, and utilizing teachable moments. Participants will receive age specific information and communication skills concerning substance abuse.
The Old Bridge Public Library was recently voted one of the three Best Public Libraries in Middlesex County by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
