July 6, 2017 – Old Bridge, NJ – The Old Bridge Public Library will offer health and wellness programs this month focusing on chronic disease management and the benefits of Tai Chi.
Beginning Tuesday, July 11th, the Library will once again offer a six-week session on Chronic Disease Management from 1-3:30pm on Tuesdays, concluding on Aug. 15th. The program was created for those suffering from, or caring for someone, with chronic conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, osteoporosis or diabetes. The sessions will allow participants to learn how to manage symptoms, communicate effectively with doctors, facilitate daily tasks, and will provide tips on healthy diet and exercise. The course is offered through the Middlesex County Office of Health Services and registration is necessary by calling the Library at 732-721-5600 x5033 or going online at www.oldbridgelibrary.org. Participants must attend all six classes and will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
On Thursday, July 27th at 7pm, there will be a Tai Chi program led by local certified instructor Katherine Kollias. She will speak about Yang style Tai Chi and the various health benefits that can result from daily practice of this well-regarded exercise. Attendees will be able to participate in the exercise demonstrations and are requested to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. No registration necessary.
The Old Bridge Public Library was recently voted one of the three Best Public Libraries in Middlesex County by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
