The SMP is responsible for teaching recipients of Medicare and Medicaid in the State of New Jersey to become better healthcare consumers.

As part of this effort, seniors are provided information to prevent them from becoming victims of fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

The program also assists beneficiaries in investigating suspected Medicare fraud.
