Why Garden Off the Ground? – a Zoom Event

May 20, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Raised bed, container gardening and straw bale take place above the surface of the soil. There are many advantages to these methods, including accessibility, aesthetic design, pest control, and being able to garden in a small space.

Pat Donohue’s presentation includes an introduction to these types of gardens, and considerations about what types of plants to grow.

Rutgers Certified Master Gardener Pat Donohue has a BS from Columbia University and MS from Rutgers University, both in environmental protection

She has spent over 15 years in corporate and government positions in environmental protection, followed by 23 years in public education teaching science (chemistry, geology, astronomy, environmental, oceanography, and meteorology).

Ms. Donohue became a certified Master Gardener to help her manage the grounds around her historic home. She volunteers on both the Rutger’s helpline and the Speakers’ Bureau, in addition to “too much other volunteer work!”
