This July, we’re celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence! As one of the original thirteen colonies, New Jersey has a rich history filled with fascinating stories, remarkable people, and important moments that helped shape our nation. From Revolutionary War battles to local legends, our state’s past is full of discoveries waiting to be explored. You can find information all about New Jersey and other interesting facts in your library’s resources.
In addition to a yearlong series of history talks at the Central Branch, there are other ways to celebrate this milestone year. The Central Branch also has activities for children and the Laurence Harbor Branch is hosting a 250th Anniversary Party. Read below for more information.

Revolutionary Family Game Day

Celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday by trying out some games that kids played during the 1700s! We’ll have stations with different toys and games for all ages from the era of the American Revolution. Try out all our games and mark them off on your games passport to win a prize!
This program is meant for kids 3 and up and their caregivers. No registration is required, though space is limited and your family may have to wait for certain games to become available.
