Old Bridge, NJ –  Feb. 24, 2020 – The Old Bridge Public Library will host the following special programs in March. Registration is required where noted.

Climate Change in NJ: Sat. March 7th @2pm. John Miraglia from the Raritan Valley chapter of the Sierra Club will present a session on climate change in New Jersey and how it will impact health, wildlife, energy availability and flooding.

Social Security Benefits and Understanding Medicare: Thurs. March 12th @6:30pm. Representatives from the American Financial Education Alliance (AFEA) will present an educational workshop covering Social Security and Medicare. The session will explore how to properly file for Social Security benefits and how to avoid the most common mistakes people make when claiming their benefits. The program will also examine the facts about what Medicare does and does not cover, the differences between Parts A, B, C & D, the costs for each part, and which Medicare supplement is best for each individual. Registration is required.

Acrylic Painting: Wed. March 18th @2pm. Local artist Stephanie Sommerlad Bello will teach the basic techniques of acrylic painting in this workshop. All materials will be provided. Limited class size and open to Old Bridge Library cardholders only; registration is required.

Taxes in Retirement: Thurs. March 19th @6:30pm.  The AFEA will return to present an informative workshop on efficiently managing taxes in retirement. Attendees will learn new tax tips and receive reminders on key items to help reduce liabilities and meet financial goals. Topics to be covered include: the difference between deductions, exemptions and credits on your tax return, how Social Security is taxed, the reality of taking money out of an IRA at a lower tax bracket, and how and why Medicare premiums may increase as a result of income. Registration is required.
