Adult Services Librarian (part-time)

The Old Bridge Public Library seeks a part-time Adult Services librarian to join our team. This is a position for a librarian with a sense of humor, strong customer service skills, ability to “think out of the box”, desire to be actively involved with the community, and the ability to serve a multicultural population.

Candidate must possess knowledge of current adult and information services standards and practices as well as excellent written and spoken communication skills. Candidate must also have knowledge of current and emerging trends in library and information technologies as well as familiarity with internet, makerspaces and social media applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staffing the Adult & Information Services Desk, creating innovative programming, providing reader’s advisory services, collection development, technology assistance to the public and community outreach services.

This position requires an ALA accredited MLS/MLIS and the ability to obtain a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certification. Employment is contingent on passing a stringent criminal background check. The 18-hour minimum work week will include day, evening and weekend hours. Additional on-call hours may be available. Salary is $30.49 per hour. Library employees are members of AFSCME and contribute to the pension system. Some paid sick leave may apply.
